Bayfront Parkway Landscaping and Amenity Improvement Project

(in coordination with the FDOT SUN Trail project)

The City of Pensacola is currently designing landscape and amenity improvements for Bayfront Parkway from South Tarragona Street to North 14th Avenue. The landscaping is intended to complement the shared use path design project currently underway by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), by providing a comfortable path to walk and bike. This design project will include proposed installation of various trees, shrubs, groundcover, and amenities on Bayfront Parkway. Final construction documents are anticipated by end of 2026. Funding is available from FDOT for installation of landscaping immediately following construction of the shared use path, which is anticipated to be complete by Summer of 2028.

The associated Shared Use Path is part of FDOT’s SUN Trail Network, the statewide system of interconnected, high priority, strategic paved nonmotorized multi-use trails / two-directional Shared Use Paths (SUP). The project helps link residents to downtown, local businesses, parks, jobs, and recreational spaces across the Urban Core and Westside CRA districts. By improving mobility and closing gaps in the trail system, the project supports CRA goals for walkability, connectivity, and access, contributing to a more connected and welcoming community for residents and visitors alike.
