American Magic selects Pensacola for it’s home base
American Magic, the New York Yacht Club's America’s Cup team, has announced a significant partnership with the City of Pensacola to create a high-performance sailing center at the Port of Pensacola. This facility will serve as the team’s headquarters for design, construction, and training, fostering the development of current and future sailors.
Spanning over 63,000 square feet, the center will support boat storage, maintenance, and innovation in sailing technology. In an article for American Magic website Terry Hutchinson said “This partnership amplifies our commitment to sailing excellence,”. Team Principal Hap Fauth emphasized their focus on building a lasting team, stating, “Having a home base is crucial for achieving our long-term vision.”
The agreement with the City of Pensacola highlights American Magic’s commitment to enhancing collaboration within the sailing community and advancing American sailing. Mike Cazer, CEO of American Magic, expressed gratitude for the partnership, emphasizing the team's goals of winning the America’s Cup and boosting sailing's visibility in the U.S. The new facility will serve as a central hub for the team while also promoting job growth and economic prosperity in Pensacola. The team looks forward to contributing to the city’s success and appreciates the city's support.
REVERB by Hard Rock Hotel and new luxury residences to elevate downtown
Hard Rock International has announced plans to develop a new hotel, REVERB by Hard Rock® Pensacola, set to break ground in 2026 and open in 2029. This hotel will be located downtown at Maritime Park along Pensacola Bay and will include over 125 tech-enhanced rooms, multiple dining options, a fitness center, and spaces for podcasts and conferences.
UWF professor wins cybersecurity “Global Educator of the Year” award
Dr. Eman El-Sheikh of the University of West Florida was named the GISEC Global Educator of the Year at the Dubai conference. Also, UWF has been designated by the US National Security Agency as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity.
